Resource Management - ANS- Standards to manage personnel, equipment, supplies,
teams, and facilities; before and during incidents in order to allow organizations to
effectively share resources when needed.
Command and Coordination - ANS- This part of the NIMS Framework includes the
leadership roles, processes, and recommended organizational structures for incident
management at the operational and incident support levels.
Standardization - ANS- This NIMS Guiding Principle facilitates interoperability during
incident response. (by allowing diverse teams to work together with the same structures
and tools)
Flexibility - ANS- This NIMS Guiding Principle allows NIMS to be scalable from routine,
local incidents through those requiring interstate mutual aid up to those requiring
Federal assistance.
Unity of Effort - ANS- This NIMS Guiding Principle enables organizations with
jurisdiction or responsibilities to support each other while allowing each agency to
maintain its own authority and accountability.
Typing Resources - ANS- This process allows resources to be analyzed by capability,
category, kind, and type.
Category - ANS- The function for which a resource would be most useful. (firefighting,
enforcement, or medical)
Capability - ANS- The resource's ability to perform its function to prevent, protect,
mitigate, respond or recover.
Type - ANS- A resource's ability to perform based on size, power, capacity; or
experience and qualifications.
Kind - ANS- A broad characterization of the resource, such as personnel, equipment,
teams, and facilities.
Credentialing Resources - ANS- This process allows personnel to be qualified, and
certified in order to be properly utilized.
