olcanoes are fascinating geological formations that play a significant role in shaping the Earth’s surface. They consist of key parts, such as the crater or caldera, which is a depression formed by volcanic activity, and the main vent, the primary pathway for magma to reach the surface. Secondary vents may also form, providing alternate outlets for lava and gases, while the magma chamber serves as the underground reservoir for molten rock. Magma becomes lava once it emerges onto the surface, and lava flows outward from the crater, reshaping the surrounding landscape.

Crater/Caldera: A bowl-shaped due to Volcano activity
Main Vent: Where lava Passes through or a passageway of lava
Secondary Vent: An alternate small vent in a volcano where lava also passes through

Lava Flow: where lava flows in a crater
Magma Chamber - the storage of magma.

Magma - Inside
Lava - Outside

Categories of Volcano :

Types of volcanoes based of shape:
Cinder-cone
composite
shield

Cinder-cone: formed by pyroclastic fragments, volcano ashes, and a bowl-shaped
crater or an oval crater.
Composite - built by strata and tephra a hardened lava parang Matulis at
symmetrical and explosive eruptions.
Shield - A large, gently sloping volcano built up by numerous eruptions of fluid,
basaltic lava, shield-like shape

Types of volcanoes based on their history:
-Active
-Dormant
-Extinct

Active- This volcano exploded once 10k years ago based on analysis
Dormant - This volcano is active but not erupting, But it is expected to erupt
soon.
Extinct - This volcano hasn't erupted in the past 10k years, In other words, it is
not expected to erupt anymore.

Phases of volcanoes
-Preparation phase
-Eruption phase
-Ending phase

Preparation: The magma chamber is filled with magma and the smoke and steam are
coming out in the crater and being observed
Eruption phase: The build-up of magma in magma chamber and seismic activity is
increased and pushed up into the crater
Ending phase: The magma chamber is empty and no seismic activity will happen.

2 Types of volcanic eruptions
Effusive - Low Viscosity -
Explosive - High Viscosity -
