, SOURCES OF WATER
Water is one of the most common substances known. It is a good
solvent for many substances and rarely occurs in its pure form in
nature.
Sources of water include; rain water, spring water, well water, river
water and sea water. Rain water is the purest form of natural water
because it is formed as a result of the condensation of water vapour
in the atmosphere. Generally all water sources, be it rain, well, lake
or river water have to be specifically purified before they can be
used for drinking. When water is purified for a specific purpose, it is
referred to as Treated Water. Examples of treated water are distilled
water for industrial use, pipe borne water for townships, and
chlorinated water use in swimming pool.
