PRE-ECLAMPSIA/ECLAMPSIA
Pre-eclampsia is a condition that stats at 20 weeks gestation or after that is
characterized with high blood pressure of 140 and above systolic and 90 and
above diastolic on two occasions at least 2-4 hours, proteinuria.
Eclampsia is defined as new onset of seizures during pregnancy or postpartum,
unrelated to other cerebral pathological conditions in a woman with pre-
eclampsia.

Nulliparity
Previous history of pre-eclampsia
Elevated blood pressure at bookings
Maternal age less than 40
Presence of underlying medical conditions e.g. renal disease, diabetes mellitus,
lupus
Investigations
Full blood count- Hb, HCT, PLT, Fibrinogen.
Urinalysis
Liver function test-ALT, AST, GGT, Albumin, Total protein.
Renal function test- for urea, creatinine
Obstetric ultrasound
