1. Briefly explain computer generations
Computers have evolved from a large simple calculating machine to a small sized powerful machines
which can do more than one tasks characterized with efficiency Each generation of computer is designed
based on a new technological development, resulting in better, cheaper and smaller computers that are
more powerful, faster and efficient than their predecessors.
There are five generations of computers;-

FIRST GENERATION COMPUTERS ((1940-1956)
This type of computers used used vacuum tubes for circuitry and magnetic drums for storage; they ware
massive anonymous large hence occupied large space occupying all the room. This type of computers
relied on machine language also, they were expensive since they consumed a lot electricity which some of
it was dissipated out in form of heat thus leading to its malfunctioning
The UNIVAC and ENIAC computers are examples of first-generation computing devices.
