,Bacterial are unicellular prokaryotic organism. Bacterial cell have simpler
internal structure. It lacks all membrane bound cell organelles such as
mitochondria, lysosome, golgi, endoplasmic reticulum, chloroplast, peroxisome,
glyoxysome, and true vacuole. Bacteria also lacks true membrane bound nucleus
and nucleolus. The bacterial nucleus is known as nucleoid.
,
, Size of a Bacterial Cell:
•There are great variations in size of bacteria.
•They measure from 0.75 µ to 1.5 µ but on an average each cell of bacterium
measures about 1.25 µ to 2 µ ( in diameter).
•The smallest rod shaped eubacteria is Dialister sps and measures between 0.15
µm to 3.0 µm size.
•Sulphur bacteria Thiophysa volutans is the largest amongst all bacteria.
