Fingerprints
Learning Intentions
to understand that fingerprints are unique to individuals
Success criteria:
-identify the 3 general fingerprint patterns
arches, whorls, or loops.
-a fingerprint is a unique feature in our bodies and no 2 people that have been found with the
exact fingerprint, which
means every person an earth has a different fingerprints
- a fingerprint pattern can never be changed for the rest of the
life of a person but unlike fingerprint patterns the print of the
fingerprint can be changed because of reasons like scaring/Scars or
Skin diseases.
- Fingerprints have general characteristics that makes it easier for
them to be identified to the person who the fingerprints belong
to.
There are 3 classes for all fingerprints based upon their visual patterns:
Arch. Loop. Whorl
Arch-Arches are the simplest type of fingerprints that are made by ridges that enter from one
side of the print and leaves from the other side.
Loops - Loops always have one or more ridges that enter and leave from the same side.
Whorls-whorls have at least one ridge that makes or tries to make a complete circuit
