What is the CERAP?
A life of the case assessment designed to provide workers with a mechanism to quickly assessing the
potential for moderate to severe harm immediately or in the near future and for taking quick action to
protect children.

Define safety
After you've considered vulnerability and 16 safety threats, it is determined that a child in a household
or in custodial care is not likely to be moderately or severely harmed immediately or in the near future.
Define moderate to severe harm
Use DID (Death, impairment, or disfigurement). Danger to a child's life or health.

After you've considered vulnerability and 16 safety threats, it is determined that a child in a household
or in custodial care is likely to be moderately to severely harmed immediately or in the near future
What would be the result of determining a child is unsafe?
Either create a safety plan or have protective custody taken depending on the situation.
