→ I don’t want realism, I want to live in magic – doesn’t want to face her reality – cuts out
everything she doesn’t want to hear
→ blanche wants realism – mitch wants reality
→ “ought” in italics – emphasises she lives in her reality word
→ although she shares the truth with mitch – the fact that she always tells lies, she tells
the truth that she always lies “I misrepresent things to them”
→ turn of dialogues + turning on and off the lights – opposite and clash with eachother –
shows the friction between the two
→ the magic she creates for herself – “I try to give that to others as well” – shows its not
just a façade in her head but one she wants to portray to keep up appearances – however
that magic is just an illusion in her head

→ “my loving brother in-law” – demonising her enemy – making him the villain, portraying
herself as a victim – sarcasm
