• The Skin Closely reflects the disorders occuring in the internal system and several
Cutaneous disorders have Systemic manifestations.
• Therefore, Clinical examination of the Skin is not complete without a full Systemic
examination.
• DESCRIPTIVE TERMS :
• Primary lesion – The initial lesion that herald the Onset of any dermatological
disorder.
• Secondary lesion – These lesions develop during the Course of the disease.

• The Pathologic term ‘ Dermatitis ‘ is synonymous with the Clinical term
Eczema.
• Both refer to inflammatory response to a variety of agents acting on
the skin from outside or from within the body such as chemicals, drug
and Hypersensitivity to various antigens and haptens etc.
• Eczematous rash or Eczema is a group of inflammatory skin condition
