My Health Promotion Goals
Introduction
Today, while researching the Dimensions of Wellness, I found myself reflecting deeply on my
current level of well-being. Wellness is often understood as a holistic concept, encompassing
various aspects of life, and after learning more about it, I realized how important it is to give
attention to both my physical fitness and mental health. As I strive to achieve my health
promotion goals, it’s become clear that in order to effectively improve my overall wellness, I
need not only reliable sources of information but also consistent support and a structured
approach.
Understanding Wellness
The Dimensions of Wellness framework emphasizes that health isn’t simply the absence of
disease; rather, it is the active pursuit of balance and harmony in various areas of life. These
dimensions include physical, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, and occupational well-
being, among others. Reflecting on this concept, I realized that to achieve a balanced, healthy
lifestyle, I must prioritize multiple aspects of my well-being. Currently, I see that my physical
health is making great strides, but I need to focus more on managing stress and maintaining
mental wellness.
Physical fitness has become a routine part of my life, yet I’ve recognized that mental health is
equally important. The struggle to manage stress is something I’ve been facing, and this issue
has a significant impact on my emotional and psychological health. I’ve learned that it's not
enough to just focus on physical fitness; mental and emotional health needs to be nurtured as
well. I aim to address this challenge in the upcoming weeks by implementing practices like
mindfulness and therapy, both of which can offer structured and effective stress management
tools.
Reliable Sources for Health Promotion Information
To successfully pursue my health promotion goals, it's essential to rely on credible and
trustworthy resources. During my research, I turned to two primary online sources that have
provided valuable insights into health promotion, specifically physical activity and mental
health.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website has been a critical resource in
this process. The CDC provides a wealth of information related to health, including
comprehensive guidelines for physical activity, mental health strategies, and overall wellness
tips. One of the main reasons the CDC’s website stands out is its authority in the public health
sector. As a trusted governmental organization, the CDC publishes evidence-based
recommendations grounded in extensive research and current health data.
