expected.

Ans. Lucy's father was an experienced and aged person. He was familiar with
the tracks of the town. So, If he, instead of Lucy, had gone down to the town, the
tragedy would have been prevented.

Ans. Lucy Gray's feet slipped down and she wandered up and down. It was an
unexpected storm. She lost her way and fell from the hills. She tried to climb the
hills but could not reach the town.

Ans. Lucy's parents searched for her far and wide. They shouted all night. After
a long search, they succeeded to trace her feet on the bridge. The feet led them
on a snowy path to the hawthorn hedge of the bridge, where their daughter
slipped down and died.
