,QUESTION NO.1
How do we experience our world through senses?
ANSWER;
We experience our world through our senses, which
provide us with information about our environment,
allowing us to perceive, process, and respond to
stimuli.
The Five Traditional Senses:
1. Sight (Vision): Detecting light, colour, and shape
through our eyes.
2. Hearing (Audition): Detecting sound waves through
our ears.
3. Taste (Gestation): Detecting chemicals in food and
drinks through taste buds on our tongue.
4. Smell (Olfaction): Detecting chemical particles in
the air through olfactory receptors in our nose.
,5. Touch (Tactician): Detecting pressure, temperature,
texture, and vibrations through sensory receptors in our
skin.
Additional Senses:
1. Balance (Equilibrioception): Maintaining posture
and orientation.
2. Proprioception: Sensing body position and
movement.
3. Nociception: Detecting pain.
4. Thermosetting: Sensing temperature.
How Our Senses Work Together:
1. Integration: Our brain combines information from
multiple senses.
2. Synaesthesia: Some people experience blended
senses (e.g., seeing colours when hearing music).
3. Multisensory processing: Our brain processes
multiple sensory inputs simultaneously.
, The Process of Sensory Experience:
1. Stimulation: External stimuli activate sensory
receptors.
2. Transduction: Receptors convert stimuli into
electrical signals.
3. Transmission: Signals travel to the brain.
4. Perception: Brain interprets and organizes sensory
information.
5. Response: We react to our environment based on
sensory input.
Our senses play a crucial role in shaping our
experience of the world, influencing our perception,
emotions, and interactions.
