The Attending Physician must do what in order to start a MEB - Answer - conduct the examination

prepare SF 502

refer the case to the MEB by initiating and forwarding the AF Form 570 or AF Form 469 to the MEB Clerk



The MEB clerk's responsibility for a MEB process - Answer - - schedules the case for board hearing within
30 days of the SF 502

- serves as a recorder and provides administrative support

- initiates the AF Form 618, Medical Board Report

- Ensures person being evaluated or next of kin has an opportunity to read report, sign it, and be given
the opportunity to write a letter of exception

- forwards completed AF Form 618 package to Medical Standards or to Physical Disability Division



The PEBLO's responsibility for a MEB process - Answer - counsels members to ensure they understand
the MEB process and their rights



ensures disability cases referred to the PEB are complete, accurate, and fully documented



maintains coordination with the member, medical facility, MPF, and other Air Force agencies
