A 16-year-old female was admitted to the pediatric ICU with exacerbation of her cystic fibrosis. On
day 3, she was transferred to the medical pediatric unit. The pressure injury survey was conducted
on day 4 of the hospitalization and the survey team noted a Stage 2 pressure injury under the
oxygen tubing over the top of her left ear. Review of her hospital admission assessment record
revealed intact, very dry skin with poor turgor. The skin assessment documented on arrival to the
