INVASIVE SPEICES
INTRO
A non-native species which is introduced into foreign environment and starts destroying
native lands is called Invasive species. These species pose a dangerous threat to the native
environment and native species. Sometimes it is very difficult to fend them off from native
lands because there adapted to it, so to eliminate them humans have used some innovate
ideas to eradicate them or to bring them back to their native lands. The examples state
Brown tree snake, Lion fish, Brook trout, Mountain goat, Galapagos. Most interesting one is
the lion fish (in my opinion).
LION FISH
Lion fish is a very attractive, spiky and dangerous fish. It is originally from Indo-pacific water
but it came as pet and was left astray in the Atlantic Ocean because they were of no use their
owners. They might look like pretty humble fish but they aren’t they are very venomous fish
and they are terrorizing the Atlantic Ocean from the late 1980’s and they mostly relay on fish
and have decreased the number of fish in the area where they live and they ate the fish which
the algae but this is a serious problem because it is indirectly killing our reefs.
METHOD USED TO ERADICATE LION FISH
Lion fish is not fish to catch with a hook and bait because they are moving into deeper and
deeper water so even diver can’t catch them because very high pressure. So, a company
named IROBOT developed a human controlled pressure resistant robot which was designed to
capture this fish in deep water and they find these fish give them a good shock and suck them
up with a vacuum. These fish have no predator so they did not react to the robot and easily
got captured.
