CH-1 Nutrition in Plants
. A LIFE PROCES any basic function that living
organisms perform to stay alive such as nutrition,
respiration, transportation, excretion,
reproduction and growth.
. Plants and animals get energy from food
. Plants make their own food by process of
photosynthesis in presence of sunlight, carbon di
–oxide (co2) and water.
. Animals depend either on plant and plant
products or on other animals for fulfilling their
energy needs.
NUTRITION
. The process of taking in food and its
utilization by the living organisms is called
nutrition.
MODES OF NUTRITON
There are two types of modes of nutrition
, *AUTOTROPHIC NUTRITION
*HETEROTROPHIC NUTRITION
Autotrophic nutrition –
It is a type of nutrition
in which organisms
make their own food
using sunlight ,water
(H2o) and carbon di-oxide (co2) through
photosynthesis . Example plants, algae.
Photosynthesis is a process by which
green plants, in presence of chlorophyll
and light manufacture glucose using
carbon di-oxide (co2) and water (H2o).
During this process, oxygen (o2) is
released. This mode of nutrition is called
autotrophic nutrition and such
organisms are called Autotrophs.
