The Pedestrian
Ray Bradbury
A short story
Dystopian
(A futuristic story in which people are living a bad and
miserable life.)
The story is set in November, 2053 AD.
Leonard Mead’s occupation – Writer
What did Leonard Mead love to do?
He loved to walk in the evenings. He would love to walk
through empty streets, making the city his own.
Leonard Mead compares his walk through the empty
streets to the freedom of animals in the country.
Reasons:
(a) The roads were deserted; they were not even covered
by a thin mist.
(b) At some crosswalks, there was a thunder-like
silence.
(c) The city was silent, as if no house in a thousand
miles had a television on at that time.
(d) The people were inside their houses, watching
television.
Why did he decide to change his direction for his walk?
