Ethics, Happiness, and the Good Life
When approaching the subject of the Good life one will often receive differing answers
depending upon the audience of the conversation. But there are generally common aspects that
can be widely agreed upon; material comfort, well-being, engagement in meaningful
activities/work, loving relationships, and belonging to a community (Nash, 2023). An
individual’s definition will change based on their principles and core values that they live by.
The following paper will look at the correlation between one’s core value and the perception of a
good life.
Personal Definition of Happiness
Happiness can be defined as an emotional state characterized by feelings of joy,
satisfaction, contentment, and fulfillment (Cherry, 2022). But Happiness is more than a simple
emotional state, it is ever evolving and it encompasses living a good life that is filled with a
sense of meaning and contentment. Simply put happiness is more than a singular emotion but a
long-term achievement that individuals strive towards. Based on the definition above it shows
