Ethics & Bus Goals for IT Prof

I have spent 14 years in Healthcare and want to go into healthcare-based cybersecurity. I
decided to choose an organization where I would like to start my tech career, OhioHealth.
OhioHealth is a massive healthcare organization based in Columbus, OH (OhioHealth, 2024). I
chose this organization because it unifies my two career interests, Healthcare and Tech. I have
held many entry-level positions in healthcare, all with the purpose of being able to help others in
life. When I found my ultimate goal was not to grow in any specific healthcare career I knew I
needed a change. However, with this change came a critical issue; How do I still accomplish my
goal of a new career that I can see myself in and help people? Obvious answer, a tech company
, that works in a healthcare setting. I know there are many avenues to this and have personally
used these types of systems before like Fluency or Epic and though I would be just as happy to
work for those companies, there are not my first choice.
Why is a hospital system my first choice? I believe that one day I will go into Governance,
Risk and Compliance, so, I wanted to go into a growing company that would have a variety of
rules and regulations, not just from a company standpoint but also a government standpoint.
Where many roles would have to correspond for the bigger picture and betterment of others. A
hospital can go through many challenges that would allow someone in cybersecurity an open,
honest, and fluctuating viewpoint. From the changes in programs, changes in access, protection
of personal data and payment information and HIPAA, healthcare could be a good steppingstone
to see variety of situations and roles in security methods and policies.
As previously stated, OhioHealth is a healthcare organization based in Columbus, OH. It is a
nationally recognized, not-for-profit, charitable, healthcare outreach of the United Methodist
Church. The Mission of this organization is “To improve the health of those we serve”
(OhioHealth, 2024). As the world has changed and technology has advanced, healthcare has too
