he need?: Gave him 120k but he needed 1m

6. How much of the crown income was Tonnage and Poundage?: 50% collected

after parliament was banned in 1626

7. When and why did Charles marry Henrietta Maria and why did it annoy

people?: March 1625 for an anti-Hapsburg alliance which meant a catholic was put

into court and the end of recusancy laws

8. In what ways did Charles show preference for Arminianism?: Promoted Laud

to Bishop of Bath in 1625 and the York and House conference

9. What did the second parliament offer and what happened?: 4 subsidies for

the impeachment of Buckingham but they were dissolved in 1626

10. How did Charles get money after the dissolution of parliament in 1626?: -

Forced Loans where people had to pay tax they would've for subsidies which earnt

240k and in 1627 ship money for naval protection

11. What was the five knights case?: 76 imprisoned for not paying forced loans

but 5 of them claimed it was anti habeas corpus. Charles won narrowly

12. What happened in military rule?: Ordered billeting of troops in naval areas and

put the areas in martial law.

13. What happened in the war with France?: Buckingham lead 3 failed attacks, 1

in 1627 to help Huguenots and 2 in 1628.

14. Why did war with France happen?: France did nothing to help England despite

help with Huguenots.
