1. Parts of Speech
Noun – Names a person, place, thing, or idea (John, city, book, happiness).
Pronoun – Replaces a noun (he, she, it, they).
Verb – Shows action or state of being (run, is, seems).
Adjective – Describes a noun (beautiful, tall, five).
Adverb – Describes a verb, adjective, or another adverb (quickly, very, too).
Preposition – Shows a relationship between a noun/pronoun and another word (in, on, at,
under).
Conjunction – Connects words, phrases, or clauses (and, but, because).
Interjection – Expresses strong emotion (Wow! Ouch!).
2. Sentence Structure
Simple Sentence: One independent clause (She reads books).
Compound Sentence: Two independent clauses joined by a conjunction (She reads books,
and she writes stories).
Complex Sentence: One independent clause and one or more dependent clauses (She reads
books because she loves stories).
Compound-Complex Sentence: Two independent clauses and at least one dependent clause
(She reads books because she loves stories, and she writes every day).
