Introduction to Quantum Mechanics
Dr. B. Keshav Rao
Shri Shankaracharya Technical Campus-SSGI, Bhilai
,Syllabus
-Wave nature of particles
-Wave-packets
-Uncertainty principle
-Time-dependent and time-independent Schrodinger equation
for wave function
-Born interpretation
-Expectation values
-Free-particle wave function
-Schrodinger equation for one dimensional problem like particle
in a box
2
,Text are taken from scanned copies of a book, therefore, I expect to
you to ignore the alignment, and be focused on topics.
3
, Wave particle duality
As we know interference, diffraction, polarization etc. are explained by wave theory (wave
nature of light), and photoelectric effect, emission and absorption of light, Compton
theory etc. are explained by Plank’s quantum theory (particle nature of light). In other
words, photon theory and wave theory are required to explain all the light phenomenon,
i.e. light has dual nature; wave nature and particle nature.
