● Promoted ideas of liberty, equality and good rights during the French revolution
● Latin America observed these changes and were inspired to seek independence

● Innovations allowed for greater crop yields and surplus of food
● The surplus of food supported a growing population
● This laid the foundation for the industrial revolution by freeing up labor on farms allowing
people to migrate to cities for industrial jobs
3. Urbanization during Industrial Revolution
● People moved from rural areas to cities in search of work in factories
● This led to overcrowded living conditions, poor sanitation and overall decrease in the
quality of life in the urban areas
4. Growth of Factory System
● Revolutionized production methods
● Allowed for mass production of goods
● Increased efficiency and lowered cost
5. Working Conditions during Industrial Revolution
● Workers faced long hours, low wages, and unsafe environments.
● Little concern for workers health or well-being
● Child labor was prevalent
