Grade 8 Math Workbook

Page 1: Numbers and Operations – Integers
Concept: Integers include positive numbers, negative numbers, and zero.
Examples:
1. +5+(−3)=+2+5 + (-3) = +2
2. −7+4=−3-7 + 4 = -3
3. −5−6=−11-5 - 6 = -11
Practice:
1. +8+(−5)=3+8 + (-5) = 3
2. −10+12=2-10 + 12 = 2
3. −4−9=−13-4 - 9 = -13

Page 2: Numbers and Operations – Order of Operations (BEDMAS)
Concept: BEDMAS stands for Brackets, Exponents, Division/Multiplication (left to
right), Addition/Subtraction (left to right).
Example:
1. 2+3×(4+5)=2+3×9=2+27=292 + 3 \times (4 + 5) = 2 + 3 \times 9 = 2
+ 27 = 29
2. (6+2)2÷4=64÷4=16(6 + 2)^2 \div 4 = 64 \div 4 = 16
Practice:
1. 5+2×(3+1)=5+2×4=5+8=135 + 2 \times (3 + 1) = 5 + 2 \times 4 = 5 +
8 = 13
2. (10−3)2÷7=49÷7=7(10 - 3)^2 \div 7 = 49 \div 7 = 7
3. 8+6÷3×2=8+2×2=8+4=128 + 6 \div 3 \times 2 = 8 + 2 \times 2 = 8 + 4
= 12

Page 3: Fractions, Decimals, and Percents – Conversions
Concept:
 12=0.5=50%\frac{1}{2} = 0.5 = 50\%
 34=0.75=75%\frac{3}{4} = 0.75 = 75\%
Examples:
1. Convert 0.2 to a fraction: 15\frac{1}{5}
