1. What is the target form of the first First conditional:
conditional (both clauses)? (F)
If clause – If + subject + verb in present simple (e.g. If I have money…)
Main clause – Subject + will/won´t + verb (e.g. I will go to the cinema this afternoon)
e.g. If I have money, I will go the cinema this afternoon.
2. What is the model sentence you will elicit to I will begin by eliciting the afternoon plans of the students, with and without money. (This
begin your presentation? will be taking from one of the student´s examples during the warmer)
e.g. If I have money, I will go the cinema this afternoon.
3. What are the negative and question Model sentence in negative form: If I don´t have money this afternoon I won´t go to the
(interrogative) forms of your model sentence? cinema.
(You might find there is more than one Form: If clause: If + subject + do not + simple present verb
possibility, but you only need to show one Main clause: Subject + will not (won´t) + verb
negative and one question, then analyse the

4. What is the function? (M) We use first conditional to talk about possible future events and the likely results of
those events.
E.g. If I have money, I will go to the cinema (So, in the event of me having money, the
possible result will be that I will go to the cinema)
5. What do students need to know about the In affirmative, the main stress of the sentence goes in the first clause and on the verb in
pronunciation, including sentence stress and the second clause:
intonation? (P)
(Think only about how the model sentence If I have money, I will go to the cinema this afternoon.
would normally be said)
In negative, the main stress of the sentences is located on the auxilary + verb + content
word following the verb:
