Show how you would elicit, explain and concept check each of the three items.
“Ok everyone, I am going to show you some pictures on the projector screen. I want you to look at
the pictures carefully and write down the words you do not know in your vocabulary books.”
1. Mining
Teacher : (shows mining pictures on PowerPoint.) Tell me what you see in this picture?
Student 1 : I see people using big machinery to dig holes in the ground.
Teacher: Yes! What else do you see in these pictures?
Student 2: I see people underground digging.
Teacher: Yes ! Correct. What are they digging for?
Student 3: Could be for gold.
Teacher: Yes. Good. What else could they be digging for?
Student : Diamonds or coal.
Teacher: Good. This is called MINING. Repeat after me.
Students: (altogether repeat) Mining.
2. Mainstream Lifestyle
Teacher: (Shows pictures on PowerPoint) Look at the picture of the people on the screen. Does it
look like they are living a normal life?
Students: Yes
Teacher: What does it look like they are doing in the picture?
Student 1: They have a family and are living in a home.
Teacher: Yes. What else are they doing in this picture?
Student 2: They are at their job.
Teacher: Good. So is living in a home with a family and having a job and routine everyday is
normal?
Students: Yes
Teacher: Is it the way people are expected to live?
Students: Yes.
