Inflammation is a localized reaction intended to neutralize, control or eliminate the offending agent to prepare
the site for repair.
5 CARDINAL SIGNS: CHEMICAL MEDIATORS:
1. Redness 1. Histamines (released by mast cells)
2. Warmth (heat) 2. Kinins (attract neutophils)
3. Swelling 3. Prostaglandins (increase vascular permeability)
4. Pain
5. Loss of function
