I was introduced to aba therapy at the beginning of this year. I was searching how I could
further my education in psychology while working with kids. My end goal is to be a BCBA. I
enjoy working with so many personalities including that I have many myself. So far on my
journey I feel like a teacher because some targets I run are more academic based than behavioral
therapy. It's different and more broad than I thought it would be. The establishment and
reinforcement of socially significant behaviors is the ultimate aim of ABA.Which brings me to
the question. Is academic instruction really important in aba?
Impact on education
The impact of applied behavior analysis (ABA) on education is profound and pervasive.
Nearly every facet of the education sector has found great value in the concepts and practices
that define ABA (Baer, Wolf, & Risley, 1968), including instructional design, classroom
systems of motivation and behavior management, individual behavior support, school-wide
behavior support, and the various assessment domains. Curriculum based assessment and
antecedent treatments are two research and practice areas where the methods and viewpoints of
