Definition:
The Cold War was a period of tension, rivalry, and competition (1945–1991) between
the two superpowers:
● USA (supporting capitalism & democracy)
● USSR (supporting communism & socialism)

1. Ideological Conflict
○ USA vs USSR: Capitalism vs Communism.
2. Bipolar World Order
○ The world was divided into two military & political blocs:
■ Western Bloc — led by USA.

○ Both sides competed to develop powerful weapons, especially nuclear
arms.

CONCLUSIONS
The Cold War shaped international relations for nearly half a century, dividing the world
into two camps, but avoiding direct war. It ended peacefully, giving rise to a unipolar world
led by the USA.
