▪Rheumatologic diseases are the leading cause of disability globally
▪Underdiagnosed due to overlapping organ system involvements and lack of diagnostic tests
▪Laboratory and imaging tests make up about 5% of the information for diagnosis.
▪Common rheumatic diseases like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis m
be diagnosed without laboratory tests
▪Improper application of laboratory tests can result in misdiagnosis and inappropriate therap

▪All patients with disease have a positive test, all with out have a negative tests
▪All patients with positive tests result have disease, all with negative do not
▪Test results correlate with organ system involvement
