Item B1:
All individuals can learn.
Though I do not work in education, I have often taught others. A situation that comes to mind is
when I tutored a college-level Algebra course. I had to help about 12 students grasp the material
in two weeks. We had several that just needed a little push, and it was exciting to see their
success. However, there was one student who had a learning difference. I found time outside of
our normal tutoring sessions to sit with this student and try different approaches to delivering the
material. We found it worked best for him to follow along and write out each individual step as I
worked through the problem. This helped him retain the information and eventually solve the
problems independently without my help. I also made him a few audio recordings to follow as he
wrote out the problems outside our sessions. Last I heard, he passed that class. All individuals
can learn. It sometimes takes longer and may require you to explore a different approach, but it is
possible with dedication and perseverance.
Empathy.
When I think of Empathy within a professional scope, I often think of my first job. As with most
