, Antabuse
What is this policy?
It is a drug that is used in aversion therapy to treat alcoholism and it works by
preventing the body by breaking down alcohol and by immediately causing
very unpleasant hangover symptoms, so even if the individual drinks a small
amount of alcohol then they will have hangover symptoms and this would make them
not want to drink alcohol.
How would it reduce crime?
As drinking alcohol can trigger violent behaviour, such as domestic abuse, or the
individual might drink and drive which is also a crime then antabuse would make the
individual stop drinking in the first place, so overall they would not be triggered to
commit violent acts or to drink and drive, as they will not be having any alcohol,
because of the symptoms that they might face, so to not have any of these
symptoms they will not consume any alcohol.
