Question No. 1:
Network Topologies in Real-Time Scenarios
A university has four academic departments located in separate buildings within a campus.
Each building needs to be connected to the central IT office for data sharing, internet access,
and internal communication. Perform the following Tasks: - Which network topology would you
recommend for this setup and why? - Compare at least two alternative topologies and discuss
why they are less suitable for this scenario. - Also, discuss how the choice of topology affects
network maintenance, data traffic, and cost in the long run.
ANSWER:
RECOMMENDED TOPOLOGY: STAR TOPOLOGY
REASON:
Because if a university has four academic departments located in different campuses. Each
building is connected to a central IT office for data sharing, data access and internal
communication. So star topology is best for this because in star topology all computers are
connected to a central hub or switch. If we transfer the data from one computer to another, it
will first go to the “hub” and then it identifies the receiver and transfer the data (any text, image
etc.) to it.
WHY STAR TOPOPLOGY IS BEST HERE:
if one building connection fails, then the remaining connection remains unaffected
All the network is centralized (ideal for trouble shooting)
If you want to add another computer to network, it will not disrupt the whole network.
