Evaluation of Different Levels of Government
European Parliament
The European Parliament are responsible for the citizens of the 27 states that
are currently a part of it. They are there to draft new laws on matters such as,
transport, consumer rights and equal opportunities. They also monitor the
spending of these countries, making sure they are spending their money in the
correct way.
I believe that the European Parliament does have a lot of power over the 27
states that are a part of it, but this is necessary for Europe to maximise its
opportunities. The States working together is fantastic as they can provide
greater security and strength for each other. The wealthier countries of the
European Union such as France, Germany and the United Kingdom can provide
the necessary help to the less fortunate countries, by providing them funds to
develop housing, roads and reduce poverty in their countries.
I do believe that the United Kingdom should have more powers, then they can
have more of a say on topics and potentially change them. On the other hand, I
think countries working together is a vital part of keeping world peace, and any
war that may break out these countries can support each other.
Central Government
The Central Government is the authority that governs the United Kingdom, it
consists on the Monarchy, House of Lords and House of Commons. Their main
roles are to defend the nation, make new laws and control the finances across
the country.
The Central Government do hold a lot of power over the citizens of the United
Kingdom, but being over the age of 18 and not in prison you are able to vote
and have your say on the matter, by voting you are invoking your opinion and
opting to either change or fix something you believe to be wrong or right. The
vote of the individual will usually revolve around how that parties decisions
could impact their lives. I believe the current way our government is run works
well as a fair system is in place as whichever party receives the majority votes
is elected.
