Ans. Muhammad’s escape to Medina in AD 622 is called ‘Hijrah’.
This event marks the Islamic beginning of the Islamic era and the
birth of the Muslim community, or ‘umma’.
Q2. Why there no Clergy in Islamic religion?
Ans. Islam stress on the responsibility of every individual to live a life
of faith without the help of priests. Hence there is no Clergy.
Q3 Name two sectors into which Islam is divided.
Ans. The two seats into which Islam Splitted were

ii. Sunni
Shia regarded Ali as prophet’s true successor whereas the Sunnis
believe that Caliph should be chosen by the whole community.

Ans. It was Umayyids of Damascus and later the Abbasids
of Baghdad.
