★ Ibn Khaldun
- Tunisan Arab scholar of Islam, social scientist, philosopher, and
historian
- Considered by some to be the founder of modern discipline of
historiography, sociology, economics, and demography
- At the age of 20, began in the chancellery of a Tunisan ruler, with
the position of a seal-bearer (consisted of writing in fine
calligraphy, the typical introductory notes of official documents
- Was chronically unhappy in his jobs as he saw them beneath him
and his goals
- Eventually granted a ministerial position of 26 after serving
multiple positions
Social Theories:

- An intro of philosophy to history based observable patterns (known
historical events)
- Influenced 17th century Ottoman historians
- Described the beginnings , development, cultural trends, and the
fall of all societies, leading to the rise of a new society, which follows
