Why do new technologies create problems for old laws and regulations? How
does new technology create new definitions of property? How might ethical
principles solve these problems?
New technology has allowed nudity and explicit content to be permissible in the
social media world. It’s definition of “property” is one’s ownership of their nude
photos. If the right set of eyes (the industry) get a glance on a body that is
profitable, your “nude catalog” belongs to an individual of higher power. I
remember when google first started, it was nearly impossible to search for
anything related to pornography. Nowadays, with a monthly subscription, you
have a plethora of explicit pictures (one from people you may even know) at the
tip of your fingers.
The goal for these platforms is to raise money in exchange for adult
entertainment. Thus, making it a legal means to generate wealth. Old laws
prohibited such activity, restricting the age of viewers, and the platform in which
today, is easily accessible.
