Chapter 12 Discussion
What ethical challenges are distinctive to people who hold
positions of leadership?
I chose this question to answer because its something relative to what
I am currently going through now. I held a leadership position in most of my
employment history. My current position as a real estate property manager,
puts me in certain situations where my decision relies on my ethical
rationale. It is very easy to fall susceptible to unethical practices and
sometimes, it may not even be done intentionally.

One of the distinctive ethical challenges leaders have experienced is
discipline and neutrality. I have been in a position where I was actively acting
on behalf on the landlord but had a soft edge for resident’s that were facing
eviction. Although I’ve had learned how residents were able to fight and
advocate for themselves, I would have been ethically wrong to play both
sides. For one, the owners trust enough that I will make the right decisions in
their absence, while on the other hand residents rely on my knowledge to
help them make decisions regarding their shelter with my knowledge.
(Assuming it is not legal information I share.
