polyneuropathy of PNS linked to immunization and recent illness, ascending
paralysis and sensory symptoms
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome - ANSWER>>Median Nerve Entrapment
presents with nocturnal pain, paresthesia of the hand, thenar atrophy, weak
opponens pollicis, affects the first three fingers
Tx: adjust, cock up splint, diuretic, B6
Tests: tinel, phalen's thumb abduction strength, dynamometer
Pronator Teres Syndrome - ANSWER>>Median Nerve Entrapment
presents with pain on the volar aspect of the forearm, paresthesia in the
median distribution of the hand (first three fingers), pain with pronation, thenar
atrophy
tx: trigger point therapy, spray and stretch
tests: pinch grip
Cubital Tunnel Syndrome - ANSWER>>Ulnar nerve entrapment
presents with pain, tingling, and numbness of the last two digits and weakness
of the adductor pollicis, hypothenar atrophy
tx: adjust, tape and support
tests: tinel's, froment's paper sign
Radial nerve entrapment - ANSWER>>wrist drop (unable to extend elbow and
wrist), loss of triceps reflex, decreased sensation to posterior arm
,tx: adjust, increase strength, stretch
Meralgia Paresthetica - ANSWER>>Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve entrapment
presents with durning dysesthesia on anterolateral thigh
tx: advise wt loss and looser clothing
Sciatic Nerve entrapment - ANSWER>>pelvis, hip, or popliteal fossa
sensory pain in posterior buttocks, thigh, leg down to floor, weakness in knee
flexion and decreased achilles reflex

burining paresthesia on soles of feet aggravated by walking or standing,
decreased sensation on soles of feet and weak muscles of the foot
tx: adjust, orthotic support to keep foot in slight inversion
tests: tinel's ankle
Morton's neuroma - ANSWER>>Between third and fourth metatarsal
pain in the toes and dorsum of the foot
tx: surgery may be necessary
tests: morton's squeeze
Anterior Compartment Syndrome - ANSWER>>Deep peroneal nerve entrapment
, Can affect any and all four muscles of the compartment: tib anterior, extensor
hallucis L, extensor digitorum L, peroneus tertius
s/s similar to charcot marie tooth
