Understanding Student Development in the Classroom
It is very essential to analyze the current state of development for each and every student: Alicia,
Sena, and Jeremy. This will analysis the encompass cognitive, linguistic, physical, social, and
emotional development, followed by strategies that will create an engaging learning experience
that is tailored to the student’s needs. Alicia’s current state of development is that her cognitive
development demonstrates strong problem-solving skills but struggles with abstract concepts.
She does learn better from hands-on activities. Her linguistic development is very good because
she has a rich vocabulary, but she does often hesitate to express her thoughts verbally due to
anxiety. Alicia’s physical development is great because she is physically active and enjoys sport
and it helps her with her coordination. She has a small problem with her social development
because she isolates herself in group settings, but she is a friendly person. She does experience
anxiety when she is in a new situation, and it can impact her confidence and her emotional
development. (, n.d.)
Sena’s cognitive development is good. She excels in reading but has some trouble with math
concepts. She can communicate effectively, and she loves storytelling. Her physical
development is average, but she does enjoy group activities. When she is in a group working on
a project, she is sociable and often will take the lead. Sena can be confident but if she is faced
with challenges, she does get frustrated. For Jeremy he has a unique way of thinking and he
sometimes he approaches problems creatively, though he does struggle with focusing. His
vocabulary is very limited, and he uses simple sentences. He can be very energetic, but he does
struggle to sit still for long periods. He only has a few close friends but when he is in a larger
group he does withdraw from them. Jeremy does experience with mood swings, that can affect
his interactions. (, n.d.)
