R.A. 8792
The Republic Act 8792 gave a legal recognition to electronic forms of data
messages, documents, signatures, transactions, storage of information. It provided
penalties for access of data without consent, piracy, hacking, and other violation. Since
now a days, many people are using e-commerce to provide their needs to communicate
faster through a process that they want for good. It is good to know that we have this
law to protect the costumer’s rights with their data, transactions, and messages
because maybe if we do not have this law, all of the data we input on the internet is now
accessible to everyone who also use the internet and might use our data to scam other
people by using our information. Since we have this law in the Philippines, I am not
scared to order or buy online because I know I am protected by this law and by that the
seller or the one who I am transacting with would be scared to leak my information on
the internet because I can sue the person, seller or their online business. It is really
good to know that our country has been taking this matter seriously and the Department
of Trade and Industry still supervising for the development of electronic commerce in
our country so that they can come up with policies when needed so they can facilitate
the growth of the electronic commerce in the Philippines.
