1. Describe the pathway of blood traveling through the closed system of the
circulatory system starting with the right atrium.
Blood travels through the circulatory sustem in this order:
1. Right Atrium: Deoxygenated blood from the body returns to the heart through the
superios and inferior vena cava.
2. Right Ventricle: The right ventricle then contracts , which pushes blood
through the pulmonary valve into the pulmonary artery.
3. Lungs: The oulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood to the lungs. In the
lungs, carbon dioxide is exchanged for oxygen in the alveoli.
4. Left Atrium: The now oxygenated blood returns to the heart via the pulmolnary veins.
5. Left Ventricle: Blood flows from the left atrium through the bicuspid valve inot
the left ventricle.
6. Aorta: The aorta distributes oxygen-rich blood to the entire body through a
network of arteries, arterioles, and capillaries.
7. Back to the Right Atrium: After the exchange, deoxygenated blood is collected by
venules and veins, which eventually merge into the superior and inferior vena cava.

2. What are the main resistance vessels of the circulatory system?
The main resistance vessel of the circulatory system is the arterioles. These are the
smallest branches of arteries that lead into the capillarie. They are also known as the
"resistance vesseld" because they play a big role in regulating blood flow and blood
pressure by changing their diameter.

3. How are they (the resistance vessels you noted in Question 2) controlled?

,Arterioles are controlled by a mix of nervous sytem input, local tissue needs, and
hormones which are all working together to keep blood pressure and flow where it
needs to be.
