A change vision is a positive, action-oriented, forward-looking perspective or strategy. A
change vision statement is a positive statement about what we need to do to achieve the desired
future. Todd Jick argues that it is the bigger picture in terms of attempting to articulate the
desired future of a company. It is a picture of what the organization will look like after making
significant changes (Kotter, 2011). A vision statement should be designed to attract and motivate
people toward the desired future state. It should also attract and motivate them to believe they
can get there. To do this, it has to offer compelling reasons why we need to be different. The
vision statement must offer reasons to want to be different, even facing current and future
resistance.
On the other hand, an organizational vision follows a statement that identifies the primary
company objectives. The organizational vision seeks to help define what the company hopes to
accomplish. The organization vision states why the organization exists, identify what makes it
unique and different from comparable organizations, and specifies the direction in which the
leaders hope the company will go (Wagner, 2018).
