It is a diagnostic procedure ( invasive procedure ) in which a blood is obtained from an artery
directly by an arterial puncture or accessed by a way of indwelling arterial catheter

from the ulnar artery in case thrombosis occur in the radial
Wait at least 20 minutes before drawing blood for ABG
• ﻏﺴﻞ اﻟﯿﺪﯾﻦ ABG دﻗﯿﻘﺔ ﻋﻠﻰ اﻷﻗﻞ ﻗﺒﻞ ﺳﺤﺐ اﻟﺪم ﻣﻦ أﺟﻞ20 • اﻧﺘﻈﺮ
Wash hands
• ﺿﻊ اﻟﻘﻔﺎزات
Put on gloves
• ﺟﺲ اﻟﺸﺮﯾﺎن ﻷﻗﺼﻰ ﻗﺪر ﻣﻦ اﻟﻨﺒﺾ
Palpate the artery for maximum pulsation
Allen ﻗﻢ ﺑﺈﺟﺮاء اﺧﺘﺒﺎر، • إذا ﻛﺎن ﻧﺼﻒ ﻗﻄﺮي
If radial, perform Allen's test
• ﺿﻊ ﻟﻔﺎﻓﺔ ﻣﻨﺸﻔﺔ ﺻﻐﯿﺮة أﺳﻔﻞ ﻣﻌﺼﻢ اﻟﻤﺮﯾﺾ
Place a small towel roll under the patient wrist
اطﻠﺐ ﻣﻦ اﻟﻤﺮﯾﺾ أن ﯾﺘﻨﻔﺲ ﺑﺸﻜﻞ طﺒﯿﻌﻲ أﺛﻨﺎء اﻻﺧﺘﺒﺎر وﺣﺬره ﻣﻦ أﻧﮫ
ﻗﺪ ﯾﺸﻌﺮ ﺑﺘﺸﻨﺞ ﻗﺼﯿﺮ
Instruct the patient to breath normally during the test and warn him that he may feel brief
cramping
• ﻧﻈﻒ ﺑﻤﺴﺤﺔ ﻛﺤﻮﻟﯿﺔ ﺑﺤﺮﻛﺔ داﺋﺮﯾﺔ
Clean with alcohol swab in circular motion
