Independent Lesson Plan (Appendix E)
An independent lesson plan in the Foundation Phase is a meticulously organised guide
crafted by a student teacher, enabling autonomous delivery and demonstrating
competence in instructional design aligned with the CAPS framework (Department of Basic
Education, 2011). Using Danielson’s (2022) Framework for Teaching, the following Grade 2
mathematics lesson exemplifies learner-centred, developmentally appropriate pedagogy.
