What are the privileges of the licence? - ANSWER 1. An authorisation to conduct
private and commercial operations under the VFR or IFR as PIC or Copilot.
2. Authorised to taxi an aircraft and operate a radio.
What are the limitations on the exercise of privileges? - ANSWER IPC:
- To exercise the privileges of a multi-crew pilot type rating, you must have a valid IPC
for any multi-crew type-rating for an aircraft of the same category that was completed
within the previous 24 months.
General:
- Authorised to conduct an instrument approach operation of a particular kind as PIC of
an aircraft only if the aircraft is equipped for that kind of approach
- May only conduct a circling approach under the IFR if they have demonstrated
competency during a flight test within the previous 12 months or during the most recent
IPC/OPC.
Recent Experience:
- Must have conducted at least three instrument approach operations within the
previous 90 days
- Must have conducted at least one instrument approach operation in an aircraft of the
same category within the previous 90 days
- Must have conducted at least one 2D instrument approach operation within the
previous 90 days
- Must have conducted at least one 3D instrument approach operation within the
previous 90 days
- Must have conducted at least one 2D instrument approach operation using azimuth
guidance within the previous 90 days
- Must have conducted at least one instrument approach operation using a course
deviation indicator (CDI) within the previous 90 days
What is an AOC? - ANSWER An authorisation to conduct aerial, charter and/or RPT
activities and sets out conditions to which such certificates are subject (i.e. what you
can do, where you can do it, and in what you can do it)
What are the requirements for the grant of an AOC? - ANSWER 1. Establish and
maintain an appropriate organisation, with a sound and effective management structure
that uses a SMS approved by CASA
2. Make adequate provision for training and checking of personnel and the inspection
and maintenance of aircraft
3. Have an approved HF and NTS training and assessment program
, What are the flight and duty time for not more than 2 pilot operations? - ANSWER - A
pilot shall not fly, and an operator shall not roster them to fly in excess of:
o 900 hours in 365 consecutive days.
o 100 hours in 30 consecutive days.
o 30 hours in 7 consecutive days.
- 90 hours of duty in any 14 days
- Continuous period of rest embracing 10pm to 6 am on two consecutive nights in each
7 days
- A tour of duty or period of reserve time at home shall be preceded by a rest period on
the ground of at least:
o 9 consecutive hours embracing the hours between 10 pm and 6 am local time; or
o 10 consecutive hours.
- An operator shall not roster a pilot for a tour of duty in excess of:
o 11 hours.
o 8 hours flight time in any 1 tour of duty.
What extensions are available to flight and duty times? - ANSWER - A tour of duty
already commenced may be extended to 12 hours, and the flight time to 9 hours.
- Where extensions have been made to the duty period, the subsequent rest period
shall be not less than:
o 9 hours (including between 10pm and 6am) + 1 hour per 15 mins of extension past 11
hours, or
o 10 hours + 1 hour per 15 mins of extension past 11 hours
- Where extensions have been made to the flight, the subsequent rest period shall be
not less than:
o 9 hours (including between 10pm and 6am) + 1 hour per 15 mins of extension past 8
hours, or
o 10 hours + 1 hour per 15 mins of extension past 8 hours
- Where a tour exceeds 12 hours or flight time exceeds 9 hours, the subsequent rest
period shall be 24 hours
