Title: GE09 Unknown Pathogen Analysis
Objective: To identify an unknown pathogen(s) based on the given
assays developed during this course
Procedure:
1. See recorded results of various tests
2. identify the two pathogens in question
Notes:
Two samples from the hospital were brought to your lab for
diagnosis. Another coworker began the analysis after culturing
the samples on LB agar plates.
However, your coworker left you the remaining work due to an
emergency. Before leaving, your coworker informs you the two
liquid culture samples were accidentally combined before the
Gram stain was started.
However, the two cultures remain separated on LB plates for
future tests. GOAL: to correctly identify the two pathogens
Results:
➢ Gram stain
Gram-positive cocci
clusters Gram-negative
bacillus rods
➢ MacConkey Plates
