, OBJECTIVE

The "Sow The Future" initiative aims to establish a vibrant community garden in

Marcellius, Talon Dos, providing residents with access to fresh produce while promoting

environmental awareness and fostering community connections. This project aligns with the

Department of the Interior and Local Government's call for barangays to create community

gardens as part of a broader strategy to combat hunger and enhance food security, as outlined

in their Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay (HAPAG) Barangay Project. By utilizing

available land—whether through traditional plots or innovative methods like vertical and

container gardening—the initiative seeks to empower local families to cultivate their own

vegetables and fruits, thereby improving nutrition and sustainability within the community.

The garden will serve as a gathering space where residents can engage in educational

workshops on gardening techniques and environmental stewardship, ultimately fostering a

sense of unity and shared purpose among the diverse population of Marcellius, Talon Dos.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Target Beneficiaries

The primary beneficiaries of the "Sow The Future" community garden initiative in

Marcellius, Talon Dos are the homeowners within the barangay. This project is designed to

directly impact these residents by providing them with access to fresh, nutritious produce,

which can significantly enhance their dietary habits and overall health. Homeowners,

particularly those who may face challenges accessing affordable fresh food, will benefit from

the opportunity to grow their own fruits and vegetables in a communal space, thereby

reducing grocery bills and promoting food security.
