Raw Materials and Components Raw materials and components form the foundation of vehicle manufacturing and include parts such as brake pedals, catalytic converters, fuel tanks, shift lever knobs, and rear seat assembly locks (Ambe, 2014). This inventory category is critical, as any disruption in supply can directly halt production. Efficiency Considerations: Procuring 60% of components from global suppliers may enhance cost efficiency by leveraging economies of scale and a broader selection of competitive vendors. Nevertheless, global sourcing complicates inventory management.
